STICORDIDYSLEX

Grant • 2022–2025

The STICORDIDYSLEX initiative introduces STICORDI measures in the Balkans, focusing on combating dyslexia, a prevalent learning disability affecting 3–7% of the population globally, with up to 20% showing some symptoms. STICORDI, an acronym for Stimulation, Compensation, Remediation, and Dispensation, aims to mitigate learning disadvantages in children with disabilities by providing tailored educational support. In Bulgaria and Turkey, children with dyslexia face significant educational challenges due to insufficient support, violating their rights under Article 24 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which mandates non-discrimination and inclusion in mainstream education. The initiative targets teachers and parents in these countries to improve educational outcomes for children with disabilities, particularly those with dyslexia.
